Undergo IV Therapy to Boost Immune System This Holiday Season

Ryan Megalio • Nov 15, 2021

The holiday season is upon us, which is exciting for a lot of us. We’re going to be spending a lot of time with loved ones, we’re going to enjoy a lot of warm, home-cooked meals, we’re going to give thanks to those we care about, and exchange gifts with those that mean the most to us.

Of all the things we have to look forward to this holiday season, it’s important that we stay prepared for what the cooler temperatures bring us. Most of us aren’t as physically active, we spend more time indoors with other people, and we spend a lot of our day trying to stay warm.

All of these things can contribute to a weakened immune system and sluggish immune response. Since the immune system is responsible for protecting the body from bacteria, viruses, fungi, and toxins, it’s extremely important that we properly care for our immune system.

How Can IV Infusion Therapy Promote a Healthy Immune System?

IV therapy Las Vegas is a more effective alternative than oral supplements, whether it be a capsule formula or a powdered formula. It allows for essential vitamins and minerals -- among other nutrients -- to be injected directly into the bloodstream, opposed to traveling through the GI tract.

By taking advantage of nutrients with immune-boosting properties and adding them to an IV bag, you can not only boost immune function and strengthen the immune system but promote overall health and wellness -- which is important, especially during the cold and flu season.

Below, we’re going to detail some of the most prominent vitamins and minerals when keeping your immune system strong and healthy during the holiday season:

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Perhaps no vitamin is more important to immune health than Vitamin C. Also known as ascorbic acid, Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that’s commonly found in cantaloupe, citrus fruits, broccoli, red cabbage, kiwi, bell peppers, rose hips, guavas, thyme, black currants, and parsley.

Vitamin C is a master antioxidant that helps protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals. It also helps promote wound healing, supports immune function, and encourages white blood cell formation. A deficiency in Vitamin C is often linked to a wide range of symptoms.

B Complex Vitamins

There are eight B vitamins referred to as B complex vitamins -- B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folate), and B12 (cobalamin). They’re water-soluble vitamins commonly found in leafy greens, meat, dairy, and eggs.

While they’re most known for helping the body break down food for energy, they are also involved in a wide range of other processes inside the body. For example, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 both play a major role in immune system health and function.

Vitamin E

Also known as tocopherol, Vitamin E is another vitamin that supports the immune system. It’s a fat-soluble vitamin that’s commonly found in sunflower seeds, peanut butter, almonds, spinach, red bell peppers, asparagus, pumpkin, mango, olive oil, squash, and avocado -- to name a few.

Like Vitamin C, Vitamin E is largely known for its antioxidant properties. It plays a major role in T-cell formation, cell signaling, and gene expression. Although a Vitamin E deficiency is rare, those that aren’t getting enough each day through their regular diet will experience symptoms.

Vitamin D

Low levels of Vitamin D are often linked to a weaker immune system, although the role it plays in the immune system is complex. For example, every white blood cell is equipped with Vitamin D receptors and enzyme activators that help maintain a healthy and balanced immune system.

Our main source of Vitamin D is sunlight exposure to skin, but it’s also found fortified in some foods -- such as milk, fatty fish, orange juice, oatmeal, and yogurt. Since most people spend a lot of time indoors during the holiday season, they might not be getting enough Vitamin D daily.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential trace mineral that plays a role in hundreds of different body functions and processes -- including the immune system. It’s commonly found in meat, shellfish, legumes, seeds, nuts, dairy, eggs, whole grains, chocolate, and some vegetables (potatoes, kale, etc.).

Low levels of zinc can make it difficult for the immune system to fight infection and heal wounds. Although a deficiency is rare in the United States, those that don’t eat a lot of meat might not get enough daily. As we enter the holiday season, it’s a mineral you’ll want to keep an eye on.

Natural Ways to Boost Your Immune System This Winter

Eating a well-balanced diet that takes into account the vitamins and minerals listed above is one way to naturally boost your immune system this winter. Of course, it’s not the only thing you should focus your efforts on, as there are plenty of factors that play a role in immune health.

For example, getting enough quality sleep each night, eating more healthy fats (Omega 3 fatty acids), regular exercise or physical activity, staying hydrated with water and electrolytes, and managing your stress levels are all essential to a healthy and strong immune system.

And while oral supplements can give your body that immunity boost you need, they won’t be nearly as effective as IV (intravenous) infusion therapy. If you’re someone that doesn’t enjoy capsule supplements or powdered formulas, then IV drip therapy is designed for you.
